A lot has been said about professional networking already. Here are some things relevant to networking with people in cyber.

The field is constantly changing.

So, security pros are always learning, yet we are a bit overwhelmed by the speed and volume of new info. If you know what topics someone in your network follows, you wouldn’t be out of line if you occasionally sent them a link to something interesting in that topic. Include 1-2 sentences to summarize it, and 1-2 sentences to mention your opinion about it.

There are a lot of events, but no one can attend all of them.

Consider meeting up with people in person at a cyber conference or other event.

If someone you know can’t attend an event you’re going to but you think they might be interested, you can send them a short blurb about it and offer to share your notes or the presentation materials.
